  • What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is the process by which we take your website and store it onto our servers. These servers then "serve" your webpages to the entire world.

    What is a domain name?

A Domain name is the word (or group of words) that identify your website. Such domain names you may be familiar with are 'yahoo.com', 'cbs.com', 'weather.com', and others.

What is the difference between .com, .org, etc.?

.Com usually stands for 'Commercial' and is generally associated with commercial organizations. However, due to it's popularity, some non-profit and personal websites also carry the .com extension. .Org stands for 'Organization' and are generally associated with non-commercial organizations and non-profits. '.net' stands for 'Network' and is a generic extension for websites. In the past few years, new extensions, such as .info, .biz, etc. have been created, but these haven't seen their popularity rise as much as the traditional big three domain extensions.

What is bandwidth and space limitations on my web account?
Bandwidth is the amount of data (pictures, text, etc) you transmit to people viewing your website. If your website has alot of content, then each time someone logs on to your website, your bandwidth would be used more than if your website did not have alot of content. Space is the amount of data you can actually put on your website. This includes pictures, text, video, audio, etc.. This has nothing to do with how many people view your website, but deals with what is on the server for people to view.

How do I put content on my website?
Websites are built by the use of HTML, or the programming language of websites. HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) can be learned in a relatively short amount of time and gives you the most control over how your website will look. For a quick site, however, several web designing tools (Microsoft Frontpage, Macromedia Dreamweaver) are available for purchase that offer a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) interface in designing websites, requiring no HTML knowledge. Also, we offer a Website Design service in which we can design your websites for you.

  • What is MySQL?
  • MySQL is a database tool for organizing large sums of data for websites.
